Johnston goes low at the Heads

Mark Johnston with Club Professional Greg Collins and Club Captain Geoff Collins

The annual Shoalhaven Heads Open Tournament sponsored by Macey Insurance was held last weekend with 134 players taking to the course. In the field 37 players were off a handicap of 5 or less and with the course in superb condition a great round was there for the taking.

Before we get in to the prize section it is important to thank Paul Brown, Brendan Goddard and the team at Macey Insurance for their continued support. This was the fifth staging of the event and Maceys have been with us since it began and will hopefully be with this event for years to come. Also this year Titleist were on board as prize contributors and as a result players competed for over $3000 in Titleist and Footjoy merchandise, To Dane Price and the Titleist team we appreciate your help and again look forward to a long affiliation of this event.

On to the scores for the day and it was great to see a new course record of 66 set. Mark Johnston played extremely well and with an eagle on the 18th was able to break his own course record by a shot. Mark's score of 66 won the gross overall prize by 7 shots with Nathan Whitemans claiming runner-up honours with a score of 73. In the overall nett, Anthony Kenna from Kiama prevailed with a score of 67 on a countback from Geoff Collins the Heads club captain. Below is a list of all other prize winners on the day
